2012 Calendar of Events

for Nelson & District Hospice Society

 

January

Hospice will be offering a Grief Support Series for adults grieving the death of a loved one. Beginning January 19th, this six week series will run until Feb. 23 at the Nelson Public Health Unit Multipurpose Room (333 Victoria St. 2nd floor) on Thursdays from 10-Noon. Hosted by trained volunteers, there will be time for individual sharing, and group discussion, at your comfort level as well as a gentle healing exploration into areas such as: art therapy, journaling, walking and meditation. If interested, please contact nelsonhospice@netidea.com. Pre-registration is required. Donations gratefully accepted.

The East Shore's 10th Annual "Hike for Hospice" will take place in Riondel. Date TBA. Registration will begin at 9:30 AM at the community centre. The Hike will start at 10:00. The event will be followed by entertainment and a luncheon. Prizes will be awarded to the individual/group who gather the most pledges. All ages are welcome and children are encourage to bring their bikes. All funds raised go towards supporting Hospice Palliative care services provided on the East Shore. This even is part of National Hospice Palliative Care week in collaboration with the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association.

Join us for our AGM (date TBA). This is a great opportunity to meet the Board of Directors, and to share your thoughts and vision for Hospice in our communities. An Annual Report will be made available as well as a presentation by the Board President and the Executive Director highlighting the year's activities.$25.00 Life-time memberships are available.

Annual "Tree of Remembrance" and /Membership Drive will take place in Nelson, Kaslo & the East Shore. Details TBA. Please stop by and personalize a card to hang on the tree in memory of a loved one. Volunteers and information about dealing with the holidays while grieving will also be available. Donations welcome.
