FREE STANDING HOSPICE

SEED FUNDING

"Our dream is to create a free standing hospice. A tranquil home where the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the dying and their loved ones are fully supported. Where a garden or a quiet room welcomes community participation. Where specialised staff, mindful of their own mortality, can focus on the individual, and not their illness. Where tears mingle with laughter as people are accompanied on their journey with dignity".

Nelson & District Hospice Society's successfully applied for Seed Funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to conduct a needs assessment and feasibility study as well as implement a business plan with regards to a Free Standing Hospice that would serve Nelson and surrounding area. In addition to working with consultants, we will be holding community forums and conducting surveys regarding the needs of the dying and how best to meet them. Look for special announcements on our website and in local papers.
